We’re ready to take the Trump administration to court to protect wildlife

It’s unconscionable — but the Trump administration is trying to make it harder to protect endangered species, including right here in the South.
And we need your help.
The administration just finalized its plan to roll back longstanding rules that protect wildlife under the Endangered Species Act. Their goal is nothing less than allowing the destruction of the habitats that endangered species depend on to survive.
This decision is unlawful. It would be a death sentence for some of the South’s iconic species — and hurt more common species that depend on unique Southern landscapes. By making it easier to destroy wildlife habitat, the administration would also make it harder to protect the places Southerners love and care about.
We’re not going to stand by and let this administration dismantle this critical protection.
SELC has sent formal notice that we plan to take them to court to stop these rollbacks — and keep the longstanding definition of “harm” that has protected wildlife for decades.
That’s where you come in. This work is only possible with your support, and right now, during National Wildlife Month, you can help Southern wildlife when it matters most. Please donate today so that we can take swift, decisive legal action at times like these.
Help us protect wildlife with your gift today.
Our cherished species are already disappearing across the South at alarming rates. Habitat loss is the leading cause.
We cannot sit back and watch the administration try to make it easier to destroy wildlife habitat. It’s unlawful; it contradicts the purpose of both the Endangered Species Act and a 1995 Supreme Court decision; and it would imperil the ESA’s successful 50-year track record of saving our most vulnerable species.
Thank you for standing with SELC — and with the Southern species that need us.
Sincerely,
Catherine Wannamaker
