Taylor Britt
Development Data Analyst
Taylor supports the Development and Communications teams with data analysis. He creates visualizations, interactive dashboards, and maps to illustrate trends, patterns, and meaningful metrics to help SELC understand the impact of its work and become even more effective. He also builds and maintains the data pipelines and customizations that make this analysis possible.
“Protecting the biosphere is the existential challenge of our time, both because human civilization depends on it, also because nature is really cool and beautiful and irreplaceable,” said Taylor, who left Harvard Law School during his first year because he realized he did not want to practice law but retains a passion for protecting the natural world. “SELC’s work in the American South, which is home to both incredible biodiversity and serious challenges to the environment, positions it to make an enormous impact. I have never felt prouder to work somewhere than I do here.”
Shackleford Banks, an island near Beaufort, North Carolina, is special to Taylor. He enjoys the bird life, dolphins, and bioluminescence around the island, as well as the wild horses that have lived there since the 1600s. “I went camping there the first time I came to North Carolina and learned that you should probably pick a time other than peak-gnat season in August and check the forecast for storms,” Taylor said. “However, I’ve been back many times and always find something new to marvel at.”
