Myra Blake
Senior Attorney
Myra supports SELC’s climate change work by tackling air pollution and energy issues. She is fighting Chemours’ “forever chemicals”, strategizing to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and taking on local sources contaminating the air in communities facing environmental injustices. She helped with litigation to combat contamination from factory farms in North Carolina and Tennessee, and to save endangered species from extinction. In a previous tenure at SELC, Myra devoted much of her time to curbing coal plant air pollution and securing cleanups of utilities’ toxic coal ash.
“I’m with SELC because I care deeply about the world around us,” she said. “I know that through SELC, I can help make a difference. SELC plays a critical role in tackling climate change and I’m grateful that I get to be a part of that effort.”
Myra lives in Hillsborough, North Carolina, near a place she loves: the Eno River. “I enjoy leading my daughter’s Girl Scout troop in adventures and seeing their joy as they play in the water and make discoveries along the trails,” she said. “One of my favorite things is to canoe the Eno stretch that runs alongside Occoneechee Mountain, especially in the fall when the colorful leaves drift down on the water.”
