Senior Attorney and Wetlands and Coasts Program Leader

Megan works on SELC’s coast and wetlands, water, and wildlife teams. She also serves on the Key Committee, which is helping ensure that SELC as an organization and in our work better reflect the rich cultural and racial diversity of the southeast. Megan also assists with hiring interns and associate attorneys in Atlanta.

SELC’s work to protect our region’s natural resources is particularly important to me as the mom of two young children.

Some of the projects that most energize her involve protecting the Okefenokee Swamp in south Georgia and threatened sea turtles off Georgia’s coast. “The barrier islands and coastal marshlands there are spectacular,” she says. As a Sewanee student, she discovered another special spot, the Cumberland Plateau in eastern Tennessee.

“I am passionate about the work and feel lucky to get the opportunity to contribute to SELC’s mission to protect our region’s air, water, climate, wildlife, and public lands,” says Megan, who grew up in Tallahassee. “SELC’s work to protect our region’s natural resources is particularly important to me as the mom of two young children. I also feel really fortunate to work with such a wonderful team and coworkers.”
