Katie Hicks

Office:

Asheville, NC

Katie Hicks

Regional Administrator

Katie works with directors of SELC small offices to manage administrative staff and to serve as an operations resource. She works with the director of administration and relevant SELC colleagues and departments to encourage policy compliance and clarify procedures.

“I’m very impressed by all the smart, strategic, bold thinkers on staff here and especially excited to be able to work with the administrative staff in SELC’s small regional offices,” she said. “These are folks who wear many hats; they are a force to be reckoned with!”

Katie also coordinates with office directors to make administrative staffing decisions to ensure adequate administrative and legal support coverage, leveraging resources from other offices as needed. She works with the legal practice administrator to identify helpful training topics and assists with administering trainings as needed.

“I have admired SELC for my whole career, first encountering the organization when I worked for a partner group, Clean Water for North Carolina, and SELC represented us in several Clean Water Act cases,” she said. “Since then, I gained experience as a legal professional in the education sector and found a love for leading mission-driven administrative projects and teams. SELC is the perfect place to apply these interests and skills to make a difference while working alongside some of the South’s most brilliant change-makers.”

From Swannanoa, N.C., Katie spent many of her happiest moments hiking in the Pisgah National Forest and along the Blue Ridge Parkway and running on trails along the French Broad and Swannanoa Rivers. “My heart will forever belong to these mountains,” she said.
