Greg Buppert

Senior Attorney

Leads SELC’s regional work against methane gas

Greg leads SELC’s regional gas team, a small group of dedicated attorneys and staff focused on curbing the use of natural gas—methane—in SELC’s region, using all available tools from communications to litigation. Greg and the gas team work closely with energy experts in each SELC office to identify and pursue priority projects and innovative strategies.

“I cherish my long relationship with many people and places in the South,” Greg said. “I work at SELC because I want to do work that matters for them.”

Since joining SELC in 2013, Greg says the project that means the most to him was leading a team of SELC lawyers, staff, and partners who, against the odds, beat the Atlantic Coast Pipeline.

Greg grew up in the rural community of Norrisville, Md., and now lives in Charlottesville. One of his favorite places is Highland County, Virginia, which he says has “a night sky as dark as anywhere in the East. I love the forests, rivers, and high country there.”
