Lauren Griffiths

Office:

Washington, DC

Lauren Griffiths

Legislative Assistant/Office Administrator

Lauren oversees daily operations in SELC’s D.C. Office. She manages facilities, budgeting and accounting, greeting guests, answering phones, tracking and circulating regional and federal environmental news, scheduling meetings, planning events, and onboarding new employees.

She also supports the Federal Affairs team by coordinating weekly coverage of and correspondence with congressional staff, compiling the team’s weekly newsletter, and providing general support to the team.

“I am deeply proud of the SELC’s commitment to addressing PFAS contamination and defending the fundamental right to clean water,” she said. “Time and again, SELC has courageously challenged corporations and government entities who place profit above the public good.”

Lauren first learned of SELC through its Broken Ground podcast. She grew up in Rhode Island and, when her family moved during her college years to North Carolina’s coastal Brunswick County, she witnessed SELC’s impact firsthand.

“What has always stood out to me is how SELC truly lives its place-based mission: always centering community voices and taking meaningful, justice-driven action,” she said.

Lauren’s has two favorite spots in the south: Vereen Gardens in Little River, S.C, “where I love to spend time with family when I visit home,” and Shenandoah National Park, “which has become my favorite area to hike since moving to Washington, D.C.”
