Jackie Hughwood

Office:

Nashville, TN

Jackie Hughwood

Associate Attorney

Jackie’s legal research supports the SELC water team; she drafts and submits public records requests to local agencies, and she contributes to several litigation teams by drafting comments, reviewing briefs and pleadings, and coordinating with local agencies.

“I am proud of the work I’ve done trying to protect the Cumberland River from PCBs and attempting to get the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation to improve drinking water testing for PCBs in the Cumberland River,” she said.

Jackie is based in Nashville, and lives in the southwest metro area near where she was raised. She joined SELC because she felt “inspired by the work SELC does for the environment,” she said. “Specifically, the great results that SELC has achieved and its place-based focused. I care deeply about the Earth and especially the environment in the South where I have grown up.” A favorite place for her is Montgomery Bell State Park in Dickson County. “My wife and I have spent many hours exploring the park, and we enjoy looking at the spillway,” Jackie said. “My wife, my cousins, and I have spent many nights camping in Montgomery Bell State Park and have made many lasting memories there, including kayaking on Acorn Lake.”
