Ms. Gates is a graduate of Wellesley College and earned an MBA from the Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration. She is a trustee and immediate past chair of the Wellesley College Board of Trustees and past President of the College’s Alumnae Association. Ms. Gates serves as a director for the Preservation Society of Charleston and the National Archive Foundation. She is a former chair of the Coastal Conservation League, past Vice President of the Field Museum of Natural History, and former principal with McKinsey & Company. She is the former chair of the Carolina Art Association/Gibbes Museum of Art.
