Lauren Bowen
Senior Attorney
Lauren focuses on increasing access to solar power across the region. She is in a part-time role after leading the regional solar initiative.
“I’m proud to be part of a wide-reaching team within SELC and among our partners that’s accelerating the transition from fossil fuels to clean, renewable energy and making the South a leader in solar power,” she said.
Lauren joined SELC’s Atlanta office in 2012 an associate attorney, and two years later moved to the Chapel Hill office. Before law school she was a general litigation and family law paralegal, and during law school she interned for law school professors, a North Carolina Court of Appeals judge, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
Lauren’s passion and path is homegrown. She grew up in South Carolina, moved to North Carolina, received her undergraduate and law degrees from the state’s flagship university. Growing up, she and her family explored the mountains and beaches of North Carolina, and now she carries on that tradition with her children.
“The South is my home and many of my loved ones are here,” she said. “I grew up exploring the natural and beautiful places in our region. I care about the people who live here. They are directly impacted by the work we do fighting for clean air, clean water, and a healthy environment for all.”
